Day 1-2

Footsteps of Mandela


After arrival in Johannesburg, South Africa, you will be met and escorted to your hotel for one night.   The next day you will enjoy a guided tour of the city, with insights into its history and modern life.  Visit townships, trace the life of Nelson Mandela, and explore the fascinating and enlightening Apartheid Museum, and Liliesleaf Farm.

Day 3-5

To the Pools!


Fly from ‘Joburg’ to Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, then onwards by light aircraft to Mana Pools National Park, one of Zimbabwe’s, and Africa’s, premier wildlife regions.  This incredible World Heritage Site is remote, wild, beautiful, and home to a wide variety and abundance of animals, including large herds of elephant and buffalo, lions, hippopotamus, crocodiles, wild dog, leopard and cheetah.  The mighty Zambezi River is an integral and wonderful part of this legendary park, offering magnificent views from camps on the riverbanks, aquatic wildlife, channels and islands to explore, and special water-based activities.  Enjoy 3 days of game drives, boating, fishing, birding, and approaching animals up close, on thrilling canoe excursions, or encountering them on foot, on guided walking safaris.

Day 6-8

Elephants and More Elephants


Fly by light aircraft to Hwange, an enormous  National Park, Zimbabwe’s biggest, with incredible game-viewing year ‘round, including about 100 species of mammals – one of the largest elephant populations in Africa, rare wild dogs, buffalo, giraffe, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, 400 species of birds, etc., etc.  The landscape is spectacular and diverse, with desert dunes, savannah, rocky outcrops and forests. Enjoy game drives and guided walks.  You may also choose to visit a local village for an authentic cultural experience.

Day 9-12

Luxury in the Wild


Fly by light aircraft to Victoria Falls and onwards to the pristine and remote Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve.  This is an extraordinary wilderness area offering phenomenal game viewing, breathtaking scenery and wonderful luxury accommodations.  One of Africa’s best-kept secrets, Pamushana Lodge is set among towering trees, atop a mountain, and overlooking a lake.  It is secluded and sublime, with spa, gym, tennis, Jacuzzi, and suites/villas with private plunge pools.  Activities include day and night game drives, walking safaris, stargazing, fishing, cultural visits to the Shangaan community, and excursions to rock art sites from The San Bushmen, one of the earth’s oldest continuous cultures on earth.  A memorable stay for many reasons!

Day 13

Goodbye to Africa


Today you will say “goodbye” to Africa, until next time.  After a final morning of wildlife viewing, activities or just relaxing at your lovely lodge you will fly to Johannesburg to connect with your international flight home.

If you are not ready to say goodbye, there are many options.  You could visit another country in Southern or even East Africa, or just add a few days at awesome Victoria Falls.
