Muchenje Safari Lodge is situated on an escarpment on the remote western side of the Chobe National Park. It is the only lodge in this area and offers a unique and prolific wildlife experience. The lodge is privately owned and managed. The lodge offers personal and friendly service.
ACCOMMODATION:
Muchenje accommodates 20 guests in ten thatched chalets, each with its own balcony and view. The main lodge features a dining area, bar, reception, curio shop, game viewing platform and library. The swimming pool is attractively built amongst natural rock. Guests usually dine together, but private dining can also be arranged.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE:
Muchenje Safari Lodge offers some of the best safari activities to be found in the Chobe area. Game drives are conducted in open Land Rovers with professional guides. Because Muchenje falls outside of the National Park, night drives are possible in this concession (night drives are not allowed in the Chobe National Park) and river cruises offer the chance to experience game viewing on the Chobe River. Guests are always enthralled by the wildlife and birds seen along the river. Elephant, Hippo and Crocodile are commonly seen.
Away from the river, the Chobe National Park consists of open plains, baobab trees and woodlands, providing good habitats for a wide range of wildlife. Walks with an armed guide are an option and a visit to a local African community is also available on request.
The elephant population here is recorded as the largest single concentration in Africa surviving within the confines of a National Park. This lodge has proven to be very good value and one of our favourites in the Chobe area.
