BOTSWANA - DumaTau Camp, Linyanti Wildlife Reserve

"ROAR OF THE LION"

DumaTau is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system in northern Botswana. The location is east of the source of the Savuti Channel and game drives along the Channel are a highlight. The camp falls within the 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve and lies along the bank of the Linyanti River.

Directly across this river to the north is the Caprivi Strip (Namibia). DumaTau is a classic Wilderness Safaris camp.

ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE:

Game drives along the Savuti Channel are very productive. The camp's boat allows guests access to the waterways and to see the hippos in close and safe range (water levels permitting). There are a number of hides in the area which allow great photo opportunities at close range. One of the best hides is right at the source of the Savute and many species of game and birdlife can usually be seen from here.

Night drives are fascinating, especially along the Linyanti River. Walks with an armed guide are also a highlight.

Guests here are likely to see elephants in large concentrations, particularly during the winter months (May to September). The area is also known for excellent predator sightings – lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and wild dog. Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Sable, Roan Antelope, Eland, Giraffe, Baboon, Warthog, Crocodile and Buffalo are almost a daily occurrence on game drives. Birding is excellent too - Kori Bustards and Ostrich are regular visitors to the Savuti Channel. Cheetahs are also commonly seen in the open savannahs.
