Botswana’s
Okavango Delta lies between shallow fault
lines at the end of the Great African Rift
Valley. This remarkable wildlife paradise
is situated within the dry Kalahari Desert,
where each year floodwaters bring water
in from the moist central African highlands
further north, creating this unique wetland
which supports and sustains an amazing
diversity of wildlife.
Safaris
by boat and dugout canoe (mokoro) are the
best way to see the wetlands, while game
drives and night drives in open safari
vehicles are best for tracking the animals.
Untarnished, expansive and exquisite – Botswana
is a land greatly respected by its people
and one of the few African countries dedicated
to preserving its ecological paradise.

The
Migration Routes Safari
(8 nights: 02-10
July)
This
safari takes the time to explore the contrasts,
extremes and continually moving wildlife
of northern Botswana: from the waterless
Savute Marsh to the broad vistas of the
Linyanti with its’ wooded deciduous
forests, the crystal clear waterways and
fertile green islands of the Okavango Delta
to the cascading waters of the Victoria
Falls. This safari also aims to witness
the amazing annual zebra migration along
the “Stolen River” from its
source, documented by Dereck and Beverly
Joubert in their famous late 1980's documentary.

on one of the most beautiful islands in
the Okavango Delta, in a private area that

all of which provide a variety of wildlife.

Duba
Plains Camp
Duba
Plains is perhaps the Okavango Delta's
most remote camp. The camp is located in
a private 30,000 hectare reserve in the
furthermost reaches of the Delta on an
island, surrounded by expansive seasonally
flooded plains (dependant on annual flood
waters) and shaded by tall ebony, fig and
garcinia trees. This pristine area is home
to lion, lechwe, elephant and huge herds
of Buffalo, as well as a large variety
of Okavango Delta bird life. Wattled cranes
and slaty egrets are some of the Okavango
specials to be found in the area. The camp
is small and intimate, with accommodation
limited to 6 comfortable tented rooms.
Each of the tents has an en-suite bathroom,
with hot and cold running water and a verandah
overlooking the floodplain. The dining
room and bar area is raised on decks and
there is a great pool with a view. The
camp focuses on the incredible wildlife
in the area through game drives, which
are conducted day and night in open 4 x
4 vehicles. Access is by aircraft only.

Jack's
Camp
(Makgadikgadi Pans region)
Jack's
Camp is located deep in the Kalahari Desert
on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, the
largest saltpans in the world. Jack's Camp
is a classic desert safari camp accommodating
16 guests in 8 large walk-in tents, each
with en suite bathroom with flush toilet
and shower. Accommodation is comfortable
and in keeping with the character of the
Makgadikgadi. Facilities include a mess
tent for dining, a tea tent with Persian
carpet cushions for socialising and a shop
tent. After the rains (December to April),
there can be enormous herds of Wildebeest,
Zebra and Springbok (with the accompanying
predators) on the open grasslands. The
summer rains also leave a warm shallow
layer of water that entices waterfowl and
flamingos. Activities are conducted in
open 4x4 vehicles custom designed for this
terrain and accompanied by knowledgeable
guides. Only in the dry winter months are
all-purpose ATV vehicles (a four wheeler
motorcycle) available, allowing guests
to travel across the saltpans. Walks with
a Bushman tracker and visits to historical
baobab trees used by Livingstone and Selous
are alternate options.

Kings
Pool Camp
(Premier camp)
Kings
Pool Camp is located in a private reserve
in the Linyanti / Savuti Channel area in
the northern part of Botswana, on the western
boundary of Chobe National Park. The source
of the Savuti Channel is within this private
reserve. The camp overlooks the oxbow-shaped
Kings Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River
to the north. The area has a large wildlife
resource with a wide variety of species,
but it is most noted for its very large
Elephant populations, which during our
winter months can reach enormous densities.
There are good populations of Impala, Lechwe,
Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Sable, Waterbuck,
Buffalo and the smaller plains antelope.
The major predators such as Lion, Leopard,
Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena are regularly
sighted. The reed and papyrus swamps are
ideal for numerous and diverse species
of birds and are a magnet for wildlife
in the dry winter months.
Accommodation
is in nine luxurious twin bedded tented
rooms under cool thatch overlooking the
Hippo filled lagoon in front of the camp.
Each of the bedrooms has its own large
bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool
and sala. Each en-suite bathroom has a
double shower, double hand basin vanity
area and a separate flush toilet. There
is also an outdoor shower for those who
prefer to be closer to Africa. The main
lounge, pub, curio shop and dining area
are under thatch and there is a swimming
pool built into the deck. The main area
is linked to the bedrooms by a raised walkway.
Activities include game drives in open
4x4 Land Rovers, night drives and guided
walks.

camp situated to the north of Mombo in
a private reserve bordering the Moremi
Game Reserve in the northern reaches of
the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura offers

under the guidance of our experienced polers.
Open 4x4 Land Rovers allow guests to get
close to animals in the savannah areas.
Guests usually have the opportunity to
see Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Sable and
Buffalo, along with all the plains animals,
providing an excellent all-round wildlife
experience in this remote corner of the
Okavango. Walks (on request basis only)
around the islands as well as night drives
give guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa
from a different perspective. The 6 tented

Seba
Camp
The new
Seba Camp is set in an ancient riverine
forest in the heart of Botswana's magical
Okavango Delta and offers secluded, luxurious
accommodation overlooking a lagoon teeming
with animal and bird life. Guests can enjoy
more than game viewing however as the camp
is a base for unique research on elephant
behaviour and a centre for wildlife filmmakers.
Seba Camp itself has 5 well-appointed and
spacious elevated tents designed specifically
to blend in with the Okavango landscape.
Each has its own en-suite bathroom and
a private deck on which to relax and observe
the passing panoply of wildlife in and
around the perennial lagoon. The dining
and bar areas are also set on a raised
teak deck with spectacular views. A swimming
pool is provided for guests to cool off
during the hotter months. A well-stocked
library of wildlife reference books and
a collection of bound and illustrated volumes
are also on hand for relaxation. Trained
guides are ready to advise on all aspects
of the Okavango ecosystems in this, one
of Africa's last remaining true wilderness
areas. Apart from the large elephant population,
there is an abundance of game in the area
including giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest,
tsessebe and lechwe. An exceptionally large
pride of lion has taken up residence nearby
and their thrilling calls can be heard
in the evenings. Large herds of buffalo
are frequent visitors, too. For bird enthusiasts,
some 380 different species are found in
the region.

Selinda
Camp
Selinda
Camp is situated in the Selinda, a 1350
sqkm reserve that straddles the Selinda
Spillway. This ephemeral waterway links
the Okavango Delta with the game rich floodplains
of the Linyanti Swamps and the Zibadianja
Lagoon – source of the Savute Channel.
The camp’s 9 Chobe style tents are
under thatch with unique en-suite facilities
fashioned into the natural vegetation,
8 for FIT and 9 for groups on request.
Open views of the spillway and floodplains,
a cool veranda, hot and cold running water,
flush toilet and a shower under the open
African sky are all standard. The main
area is a thatched double tiered building
incorporating dining, lounge and bar facilities.
Guests can also enjoy a small curio shop,
plunge pool and traditional campfire. Daily
activities revolve around morning, afternoon
and night game drives with experienced
professional guides in custom-built 4 x
4 Land Cruisers. Short walks from camp
are encouraged accompanied by an armed
guide (alternatively see Selinda’s
Walking and Trails Camp). The Selinda is
characterised by its game-rich floodplains
which are host to a variety of antelope,
zebra, cheetah, wild dog, lion and plenty
of elephant.

Vumbura
Plains Camp
(Premier camp)
Vumbura
Plains Camp is a great camp situated in
a private concession bordering the Moremi
Game Reserve in the extreme north of the
Okavango Delta. The Vumbura Reserve offers
both land and water activities in an area
that has a wonderful variety of habitats,
a great diversity of wildlife and offers
an enormous traversing area of close on
130,000 acres. The main activity at Vumbura
Plains is game viewing in wonderfully varied
countryside and the open 4x4 Land Rovers
allow close proximity to animals in the
savannah and forested areas, complemented
by activities out on the water on mokoros.
The Vumbura area is possibly the only area
in the Okavango where one can see Red Lechwe
(an animal that inhabits the fringes of
the waterways) and a Sable antelope (an
animal that enjoys the dry countryside)
on the same game drive. Add in Lion, Leopard,
Elephant, Cheetah and Buffalo along with
all the plains animals and one has an excellent
all round wildlife experience in a remote
and private part of the Okavango. Birding
too is great with large varieties and quantities.
Walks, mokoros and boating give Vumbura
Plains’ guests the opportunity to
enjoy Africa from a different perspective.
The timber
and canvas camp is built under thatch on
wooden decks and overlooks a vast and attractive
floodplain. Vumbura Plains comprises of
two separate seven roomed camps (North
and South camps). Each has its own dining,
lounge and bar area although all fourteen
rooms (or parts thereof) can be utilised
for larger parties. All of the spacious
rooms are built under the shade of cool
trees and are raised off the ground on
wooden platforms with walkways connecting
them to the main living areas. Each tented
room has a large, very comfortable bedroom,
a lounge, a "sala" and en-suite
facilities with a shower, a flush toilet
and an outdoor shower under the stars.
The main dining, lounge and pub area are
also raised off the ground and are tucked
beneath a canopy of cool, shady, indigenous
trees with a wonderful vista across the
floodplains. Each room has its own private
plunge pool. Access into this area is only
by aircraft and then by vehicle to camp.

Xigera
Camp
Xigera
Camp (pronounced Keejera) is a luxury tented
camp situated in the Moremi Game Reserve
in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Xigera
has something for everyone, in an area
where there are no other Moremi camps and
where permanent water all year round allows
one to enjoy a variety of activities. Enjoy
a true Delta experience while you sit back
in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and silently
glide through the tranquil Okavango waterways
or watch the sunset and birds gliding home
to roost from a motorboat on the Xigera
Lagoon. When water levels permit, game
drives (usually September to May) allow
the opportunity to observe wildlife and
the unique Delta scenery from the comfort
of a Land Rover. And for the more adventurous
we can track animals on foot.
Nestled
in a magnificent riverine forest, Xigera
consists of 10 luxuriously furnished tented
rooms with en-suite facilities and outdoor
shower. Each room is raised off the ground
on a wooden deck offering superb views
of the seasonal floodplain and waterhole.
Meals and drinks are enjoyed under the
thatch of the raised lounge, pub and dining
area overlooking a permanently flowing
channel. A traditional boma offers alternative
dining under the African stars. Wooden
walkways wind through the forest connecting
the rooms to the main area. There is a
plunge pool for cooling off and relaxation.
The wooden footbridge, a unique feature
to Xigera, connects Xigera Island to the
next one and is often used by Lion and
Leopard moving between the islands allowing
guests great viewing opportunities. Birding
in the area is excellent, with Pel’s
Fishing Owl, Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane,
African Skimmers and a host of eagles,
vultures, raptors and kingfishers to be
found. The area has the highest density
of the rare Sitatunga antelope found anywhere
in the Okavango Delta.
